Introduction to Architectural Ironwork

This is an intensive class for intermediate to advanced skill levels.  We will explore architectural blacksmithing techniques to build a stand.  This will include forging multiple matching parts, fitting, and assembly.  The stand will be built with traditional joinery and modern fabrication techniques to give the look of an all-traditional piece with the opportunity to assemble it in 2 days.  We will skip the forge welding due to time constraints and review modern welding and how to hide it.

The stand itself is in the Medieval Gothic style.  In the simplest form it can be used as an adjustable height stock support.  You can also plan to make it into something more elaborate (Side table, music or book stand, candelabra, etc.)  The class will focus on making the tripod base.
